The company, with registered headquarters in Cerdanyola Del Valles, Spain, is an entity engaged in the manufacture of steel and its transformation into steel wire. It is a European leader in iron and steel industries. It was formerly known as Nueva Montaña Quijano and was founded in 1873. The company's products has a range of rolled wire qualities in different sizes and grades. These include very-high, resistance-rolled wire; low carbon-rolled wire; medium carbon-rolled wire; wire for cold pressing of bolts and screws, and rolled wire for welding. Applications for the wire products are extensive and include wires and cords for prestressed and post-stressed concrete, high-resistance cables, mechanical springs, wire for reinforcing tires, galvanized wires and cords, wires for farming, wires for plating, industrial and domestic staples, pins, barbed wire, chains, steel wool and wire for upholstery and mattress springs. The company's mission is to be a competitive producer of 1 million tonnes/year of high-quality wire rod. Its installations are situated on the outskirts of the City of Santander, in the Southern Arc of the Bay of Santander on the north coast of Spain.
